Nokia Is Expect to Stop Symbian Smartphone Shipments

Nokia is expect to finally stop production of its Symbian based smartphones this summer as the company completes its migration over to the Windows Phone operating system supplied by Microsoft.

The Nokia 808 PureView was the company's last Symbian smartphone.
The Financial Times, without citing sources reported that the company is not expected to issue any sort of notice about the final date, as it would still have units in the delivery chain waiting to be sold.
Nokia's Symbian shipments dropped to around half a million units in the first quarter of this year, as compared to 5.6 million of its WP based Lumia smartphones. The company shipped a total of 61.9 million mobile phones though.

Nokia told the FT that: "It took 22 months to get a Symbian phone out of the door. With Windows Phone, it is less than a year. We spend less time having to tinker with deep-lying code and more time on crafting elements of the experience that make a big difference,"
Kantar Worldpanel has estimated that Symbian held a European market share of about 1.8 percent in the three months to April, down from 8 percent a year ago. The OS, which was originally developed by Psion for its handheld computers, still accounts for about 2 percent of the Chinese market.
Nokia is not totally reliant on Windows Phone for its handsets software, as the company still uses its own in-house OS for more basic handsets.

Adjust Your Nokia Mobile Memory And Rom

/*/ Based on v51.1.002 firmware of nokia 5233 (RM -625) for
which the total rofs space is 119.25 MB. /*/

/*/ sample values given is for RM-625 only. /*/

Tools required :
 STEP 1
Put all your original firmware files in a folder

1)open your original firmware(OFW)core(.C00 file) with nokia cooker.Delete all files.(now you deleted the  rofs1 files)
N0w click 'unlock rofs'.Change the values from 2B to 2C.

Click 'extend ROFS1'.Now click 'save firmware'
2)open your ofw rofs2 with nokia cooker.Remove all the files.Save the firmware.
3)open your ofw rofs3 with nokia cooker.Remove all the files.Save the firmware.
4)open your ofw uda file  with nokia cooker.Remove all the files.Save the firmware.(this is notimportant.Do this to get a blank uda so that to get max space in phone

STEP 2
Run t0trader NFE0706.change its language to english (click the button at right top corner for that)
(1)open the previously saved core with NFEO706.
Double click on the area in between 'open file' button and 'unpack' button. This will open the 'adjust partition info' window.

Here is where we are going to adjust our partiton values.

You can see rofs1 max partition size as 045C0000.What this means?
Open the Hex2Dec tool by aneeshd16 (attached).Enter the value 045C0000 in hex field.Hit enter.Youcan see the value in MB as 69.5
This means max size given for rofs1 in OFW is 69.75 MB.

You can see rofs2 max partition size as 02480000.Enter the value 02480000 in hex field of Hex2Dectool.Hit enter.You can see the value in MB as 36.5
This means max size given for rofs2 in OFW is 36.5 MB.

You can see rofs3 max partition size as 00D00000.Enter the value 00D00000 in hex field of Hex2Dectool.Hit enter.You can see the value in MB as 13.
This means max size given for rofs3  in OFW is 13 MB.

he total rofs space that we can use in RM-625 is 69.75+36.5+13 = 119.25 mb
(NOTE:  If you open  binh24 core for RM-625 V51.1.2 with NFE0706 and check the partition info as above, you can see rofs1=7.375 MB( useless i think),rofs2=110.875

MB,rofs3=1 MB.Total=7.375+110.875+1 = 119.25 MB.We got the same value as when added above inofw. So the total rofs space needs to be a constant.)
(2) Now we are going to enter our own repartition values in the above prepared ofw core file.
I would suggest to give a minimum safe value to rofs1 (0.5mb) and rofs3 (0.5 MB) and give the remaining space to rofs2.
what will be the rofs2 space now ? Easy .    119.25-(0.5+0.5)= 119.25-1 = 118.25 MB
wow ! our rofs2 size is 8mb more in size than binh24 rofs2 !!

( a ) we are giving 0.5 MB as rofs1 max space. How to enter this value ? Easy.Just enter 0.5 in the 'Megabytes' field of Hex2Dec tool.Hit enter.You can see the

hex value as 80000.

Since we need to enter 8 digits in t0trader NFE,add required number of zeros before the number.
ie, enter the rofs1 maximum size as 00080000.(refer to the screenshot)
After entering this value as rofs1 max size,Click ' Adjust ' button which is present right side to it.
( b )  we are giving118.25 MB as rofs2 max space.Just enter 118.25 in the 'Megabytes' field of Hex2Dec tool.Hit enter..You can see  the hex value as 7640000

Since we need to enter 8 digits in NFE,add required number of zeros before the number.
ie, enter the rofs2 maximum size as 07640000(see the screenshot below)
After entering the numbers, click 'Adjust' button.Select the rofs2 that prepared in stage 1.
( c )   we are giving 0.5 MB as rofs3 max space.enter 0.5 in the 'Megabytes' field of Hex2Dec tool.Hit enter.You can see the hex value as 80000.
Since we need to enter 8 digits, add required number of zeros before the number.
ie, enter the rofs3 maximum size as 00080000(see the screenshot below)
Click Adjust and Select the rofs3 that prepared in stage 1.

Now click OK .Close NFE0706
STEP 3
------------------------------------------------------------------
Now again open the pepared core with nokia cooker.Press save firmware to repack.
Now again open the pepared rofs2 with nokia cooker.Press save firmware to repack.
Now again open the pepared rofs3 with nokia cooker.Press save firmware to repack.
(The above steps are needed)

You are almost done. But do not flash with the prepared files now, because they are empty.
Extract any c6 or n97 based cfw with nokia cooker.Copy all the files in it somewhere in your PC.
Now open our prepared rofs2 with nokia cooker.Add the saved n97 or c6 cfw files to this rofs2.
Repack and flash the rofs2 with the newly prepared core.Done.
(You can avoid the rofs3)

Symply.

This is most wanted utility 4 ur Symbian S60 V3 phones.By installing this u can install the unsigned applivation. and also many more...
This app should work on almost all S60v3 OS9.1/9.2 devices. Although, some newer firmwares block this method, so it will not work there.

How To Hack:

When the installation is done, look in the Applications folder on your phone, and find SecMan. Open it, follow instructions, and after reboot open it again and click on "Install Root Certificate".

After this is done, you will be able to install our "Unsigned" releases which are released after 05-16-08 like normal "Signed" applications.
Please keep in mind, if you format / upgrade your phones firmware, you'll need to do this step again and after that manually install those apps from Application Manager.

Change start up screen and sound

Hack nokia s60: Change start up screen and sound

(for hacked phones only)

Now when the S60 3rd edition security is broken and when the ROM patcher is available the only real limit for phone customization is the edge of our imagination.
There are bunch of talented young hackers around the Symbian Freak and you can expect much more cool hacks and patches to come shortly.
Anyway, speaking about the hack, first of all it doesn’t patch the ROM it is the pretty simple method known from 2nd edition phones and the whole trick is moving the files from the ROM to C: drive and pointing phone to use these files instead of the original ROM files.

How To Change ’0′ Shortcut to Bluetooth On/Off On Nseries

Change '0' Shortcut To Bluetooth On/Off

Bluetooth can be turned on/off by pressing the * key on some Eseries devices like the Nokia E66 and Nokia E71. This shortcut is not available on the Nseries phones. By hacking your Nseries S60 phone, there’s a patch that lets you change the ’0′ shortcut that usually opens the web browser. I’ve changed it to open the bluetooth menu on my Nokia N95 8GB. By turning on bluetooth only when you need it, you can save battery life and prevent unwanted file transfers.

Prerequsites

The first thing you need is a hacked Nokia S60 phone. You can find out how to do this by reading How To Hack Your S60 Phone guide.

The instructions below include editing the original ChangeBrowserOnKey.rmp patch by FCA00000 and uploading it to your phone. The modified code is then shown afterwards for the bluetooth shortcut. If you don’t want to read about the modification, just scroll all the way down for the end result. Note: The code’s formatting might not appear properly on RSS readers.

All I did was change the code so that the bluetooth menu opens. You can change it to anything you want as long as you know the application’s UID code.

Original Code by FCA0000

Below is the original code from FCA00000. Unmodified, pressing 0 will open Opera Mini if you have that installed. Continue reading below to change it to bluetooth instead. Notice that lines starting with ‘;’ are comments.

; *** ChangeBrowserOnKey0 1.0 ***
; *** Change Browser On Key '0' ***
; Author: fca00000 , fca00000-at-yahoo-dot-es
; Date: 2008.06.01
; Firmware: tested on N80 v 5.0719.02 . Might work on preFP1+FP1

; When phone is in the StandBy screen, pressing key '0' opens the default browser.
; With this patch, you can open any other application.
; You need to know its UID. Then, swap bytes to little-indian to get xxDIUxxx. In other words: 0x12345678 becomes 78563412
; For example:
; FExplorer UID = 0xE00012DF therefore xxDIUxxx=DF1200E0
; Calculator UID = 0x10005902 therefore xxDIUxxx=02590010
; OperaMini UID = 0x101D3166 therefore xxDIUxxx=66311D10 In this case, be aware that it takes some time (5 seconds) to open.

; then, the patch becomes:
; SnR:sys\bin\phone.exe:398D00100000000000000000:xxDIUxxx0000000000000000
; SnR:sys\bin\phone.exe:398D00100100000035000000:xxDIUxxx0100000035000000
; As far as I know, nothing is broken. But I decline all responsability, of course.
; Anyway, here it is. Enjoy
