A smartphone with dual SIM? Well, that sounds interesting. What if the phone mentioned is Lumia? That would be awesome! As rumors about a Lumia handset with dual-SIM functionality was seen on Nokia Lebanon’s Twitter account, the question: are we moving closer to saying goodbye to feature phones and hello to smartphones?

With all the good stuff present in smartphones today, some users are still choosing basic feature phones for their simplicity and functionality. Today’s trend on these phones focuses on dual-SIM capabilities, for many of us just want to use one phone for all communication purposes rather than carrying a bunch of devices. These feature phones are popular in developing countries such as the Philippines, and usually targets teenager users, as well as business entrepreneurs, who put dual-SIM phones into good use.Nokia has been known to follow latest trends and comply with the 

“connecting people” tagline, resulting to its decade-long top spot in the mobile phone industry. So it is not surprising for these rumors of a dual-SIM Lumia to spread, as they had already move ahead with creating a dual-SIM version of the Asha 501, their flagship device in the low to mid-end range market. As the Lumia series is still floating in the third spot, along with other WP handset, dual-SIM versions of the smartphone can help increase the current marketshare reported in Kantar.
As seen on the leaked photo, the device can be a variant model of either a Lumia 620 or 720, based on the design. If this handset will actually be released, and is offered as a low-cost Lumia, it may turn the tide in the smartphone battle in no time. Let’s see how this latest rumor will unfold in the coming days.
